Allison, Founder & Managing Editor
Allison is a UVA alumna, married to another ‘Hoo, who moved back to Charlottesville recently with her two young boys in tow. Experiencing the area for the first time in a new role (as a mom, not an undergrad) she became aware that not only is Charlottesville a great place to raise a family, but there are also a lot of tips, tricks and hints she wish she had to make it easier to take advantage of everything here.
Allison has a long background in freelance writing, editing, content marketing, social media marketing as well as magazines and newspapers. Raising Charlottesville is a way to use her experience and passion to give back and support the amazing community of parents in the area.
She also teaches group fitness and yoga, believes that healthy living is important (even though hard to accomplish) and is very attached to her paddleboard.
Kelly, Contributing Writer
Kelly works part time as an independent contractor serving companies with her writing and instructional design expertise. With a BA from William and Mary and an MEd from Penn State, she has a passion for education and making difficult concepts easy to understand. Outside of work, her favorite thing to do is travel with her family. On a normal day when that’s not possible, Kelly can be found baking sourdough, cheering on her teenagers at sports events, or volunteering with the treatment team at the Wildlife Center.
