4th of July in Charlottesville (2021 Edition)

After a strange and mostly-canceled 4th of July last year, many of us are looking forward to celebrations this year! But, things have changed. 

Of course, we have lots of ideas for ways to get outside and adventures to have. But we’ve dug into what is available by way of special celebrations, what the weekend will look like, and what opportunities you and your family can take advantage of this particular 4th of July.

4th of July Activities in Charlottesville, 2021:

James Monroe’s Highland is celebrating on July 3rd this year from 2:00 – 4:00 with music.

(The famous Monticello event will be held online on July 4.)

Carter Mountain Orchard is having its big Happy Birthday America party on the 4th of July from 6:00 – 10:00 pm, complete with peach picking. Paid tickets are required.

The big fireworks are actually being shot off from Carter Mountain, starting at 9:00 pm on the 4th of July, but should be available for viewing throughout a lot of the city.

Crozet will hold its festivities on July 3. They start with a parade in the late afternoon, followed by a celebration and then fireworks at 9:30 pm.

The annual Scottsville Parade will be held on Saturday, July 3 as well, starting at 9:00 am. Fireworks and live music will also be on July 3, with concerts starting at 5:30 pm.

What’s more American than baseball? The Tom Sox will have a game at Charlottesville High School at 5:00 pm on the 4th.

The annual 5k will take place on July 3 starting at 7:30 am and will follow the Hollymead course.

Summer Jam is happening at Massanutten on July 3rd, with music and celebrations all day, followed by fireworks at 10 pm.

Wintergreen has a full weekend of celebrations, which culminate in fireworks on the 4th of July at 9:30 pm.

For something more low key, Keswick Vineyards is having a Reds, Whites and Bluegrass event at the vineyard the afternoon of the 4th, and Hark Vineyards is kicking off the weekend on July 2 with live music and oysters.
